A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit North Cotabato on Thursday evening.
According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake occurred at exactly 6:51:22 PM on July 25, 2013.
The epicenter of the earthquake was traced 18 kilometers (km) northeast of Carmen. It had a depth of 1 km and was tectonic in origin.
Reported intensities:
Intensity IV - Carmen, North Cotabato
Intensity III - Dancagan,Bukidnon
Intensity II - Kidapawan City; Cagayan de Oro City; Cotabato City; Davao City
The same area was hit by another magnitude 4.4 earthquake at 7:05 PM which was felt at Intensity III in Carmen. A weaker magnitude 3.8 also followed at 8:05 PM.
No damage or aftershock is expected.
