Claudine Barretto was crying as she went out of the Marikina Regional Trial Court on Monday, July 29, 2013.
She filed a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) under Republic Act 9262 or Violence Against Women and Children against husband Raymart Santiago.
The TPO petitions that Raymart be prohibited to come 300 meters near Claudine and their children.
Claudine wouldn’t talk about the TPO and it was her legal counsel, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, who talked to the media although he didn’t get into details about the matter.
“He has committed a lot of those physical, verbal, psychological, even economic abuse,” said Topacio. “With this, she has reached the point of no return in her marriage with Mr. Santiago.”
Claudine once posted a photo on Instagram showing her with bruise on her cheek. It has, however, been immediately taken down.
Topacio also denied that Claudine’s bruises were self-inflicted.
“Marami po kasi there was an instance that the act was sufficient to cause injuries in various parts of the body,” he said. “We have witnesses and other proof to show that these are not self-inflicted wounds.”
The case, which was raffled off to Marikina RTC Branch 192 presided by Judge Geraldine Macaraig, will be heard on Tuesday.
