Paulo Avelino stars in Debosyon, an entry to the 2013 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival’s New Breed Category.
Debosyon is about a young man (Paulo) who gets lost and injures himself in the middle of the forest. When he wakes up, he hears a woman (Mara Lopez) singing. He follows the voice and meets the mysterious girl who will take care of his injury and will nurse him back to health.
The story is a variation of Philippine folklore’s popular stories about goddesses who fall in love with lost young men in the forest.
Written and directed by Alvin B. Yapan, the movie will be exhibited during the Cinemalaya Festival that happens on July 26 to August 4, 2013 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), TriNoma, Alabang Town Center, and Greenbelt Cinemas.
