Kylie Padilla backs out of “Pahiram Ng Sandali”

It seems like Kylie Padilla and Dingdong Dantes are not really meant to be in a television project together, as the actress recently bowed out of their supposed first team-up, Pahiram Ng Sandali.

Pahiram Ng Sandali

According to a statement released by Betchay Vidanes, Kylie’s manager, the role being offered to the actress is very mature and will require her to do sensitive scenes that are in conflict to her Muslim faith.

Pahiram Ng Sandali was the replacement project for Haram, which was shelved because of its controversial storyline about the love story of a Muslim and a Christian. The whole cast and crew of Haram, however, were given a new project – Pahiram Ng Sandali. But the Kylie-Dingdong team-up wouldn’t materialize once again due to Kylie’s issues with age and religion.

Too bad, but as they say, it will not happen if it’s not meant to be.

Pahiram Ng Sandali also stars Lorna Tolentino and Christopher de Leon, as well as Alessandra de Rossi, Sandy Andolong and Mark Gil.

Here’s the full statement released by Betchay Vidanes (via pep.ph):

We wish to thank GMA Network for the big break & the challenging lead role offered to Kylie.

It is a rare chance to work with Mr. Dingdong Dantes, who is a Best Actor awardee, as leading man; & Ms Lorna Tolentino, a Grand Slam Best Actress, as co-star, and multi-awarded actor Mr. Christopher De Leon, as co-star, and the renowned Direk Maryo Delos Reyes, as director.

We are very grateful to Atty. Gozon & the rest of GMA Mngt for the great trust by giving Kylie a grand project that is Pahiram ng Sandali.

However, as much as Kylie would like to take on a more mature character that will transition her career, Kylie & her management—after study & deliberation—have decided to depart from the project.

The character Kylie was going to play is far too adult for her age of 19 and would require her to do very sensitive scenes that will put her in conflict with her Muslim faith...

Kylie believes that her growth as an actress will come at the right time and with the right project.

We hope that GMA Management, her co-stars, media, and the public will understand the decision and will still support Kylie in her future endeavors.

Thank you.
