MJ Lastimosa on plastic surgery rumors: 'Wala akong pinagawa!'

Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa denied that she had undergone beauty enhancements before joining Bb. Pilipinas for the third time and finally won a crown.

In ABS-CBN's Aquino & Abunda Tonight, Lastimosa said she probably looks different from before because of styling.

"Actually I'm looking at my picture from the first, second and third pageant, and those pictures are so different from each other and wala naman akong pinagawa. So I'm thinking it's all about the styling. Talagang 'pag iba 'yung styling mo nag-iiba talaga [ang hitsura]."

However, she has nothing against those that undergo cosmetic surgery, which is much more accepted in other countries.

"I think if it's for the better naman, then go for it," she said. "Enhancement for the good."

She was second runner-up in 2011, and one of the twelve semi-finalists in 2012. She didn't join in 2013 as she reportedly traveled to Brazil to gain more experience in modeling and beauty pageants.

Lastimosa is now twenty-six and had Bb. Pilipinas not adjusted the age limit this year from twenty-five to twenty-six, she wouldn't have been qualified to join the 2014 pageant.

But her determination to win a Bb. Pilipinas crown paid off. She said, however, that she's ready to accept it had she failed again.

"Actually there's acceptance already kasi dalawa kaming third attempt dun and then the other one didn't make it as a semi-finalist. Now, we were talking at the back, sabi ko, talagang may acceptance na sa heart ko and I enjoyed this journey. Sinasabi ko sa mga girls kung sino man manalo I'll be so happy," she said.

The 5' 7" North Cotabato native revealed she almost lost hope because the judges were not looking at her after the deliberation, the time that they already knew who the winners were.

"I was looking at them, kasi feeling ko, after deliberation, tsine-check ulit nila kung sino 'yung nanalo, 'yung parang they're looking at the girls. Then I was like, 'They're not looking at me! Why? I'm not gonna win, I'm not gonna win!'"

But she proved that prayers work wonders.

"I was just praying so hard, talagang sabi ko, 'Lord, please ibigay n'yo na 'to sa 'kin. And naiiyak na 'ko because of that. Kasi talagang pinipilit ko na si Lord," she said, talking about the part of the pageant where the winners were being announced.

Lastimosa was crowned by reigning Miss Universe 2013 Gabriel Isler (who also asked her her final question) and Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida. She will be representing the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant that will be held later this year.
