Sonny Angara, blamed for Pia Wurtzbach's Bb. Pilipinas 2014 loss

Senator Sonny Angara is being blamed by netizens for asking a Tagalog question to contestant Pia Wurtzbach who was one of the early favorites during the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 pageant.

Wurtzbach answered the question in Tagalog as well, as that's the right thing to do. She wanted to translate her answer in English for the benefit of the other judges who don't speak Filipino, but she already ran out of time.

The Bb. Pilipinas 2013 runner-up lost this time. Some netizens say Angara shouldn't have asked his question in Tagalog because there were foreign judges, which include reigning Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler.

But should the blame be put on Angara?

TV Patrol reported that according to Angara, he explained Wurtzbach's answer to the other judges, who in turn liked it.

"Nag-tie si Pia Wurtzbach kina number 4 Parul Shah and number 13 Chris Janson so we had to break the tie. But I voted for Pia," Angara was also quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 criteria for judging was as follows:

Beauty of Face - 50%
Beauty of Figure - 30%
Intelligence - 10%
Poise/Personality - 10%
