Wowie De Guzman's wife dies 1 month after giving birth

Sheryl Ann Reyes, the wife of former teen idol, Wowie De Guzman, died one month after giving birth.

According to De Guzman, they were sleeping Saturday night when his wife woke up to go to the toilet. She also took a muscle pain reliever for her arthritis before going back to bed.

"Paghiga n'ya, 'yun lang, para s'yang nag-choke, tapos pagpunta ko sa kanya ayun na, nag-dilate na 'yung mata n'ya tapos nanigas na 'yung [mga braso n'ya] so triny kong i-mouth-to-mouth (resuscitation) kaya lang wala talaga, e," the former dancer and actor told ABS-CBN News.

He further said that he brought her to the hospital and has repeatedly pleaded to the doctors to revive her every time they come to him to say she has no more heartbeat.

"Kaya lang talagang hanggang dun lang siguro," he added.

He is not blaming anyone, though, as he believes that what happened was God's will.

"Medyo masakit pero kailangan mong tanggapin kasi sigurado naman ako na hindi n'ya ibibigay 'to sa akin na hindi ko makakayanan," he said.

If there's anything that he should be thankful for, it was the baby that his wife left him, born just a month ago.

"[Sa baby] na lang ako humuhugot ng lakas ng loob," he tearfully said. "Hindi ako pwedeng maging mahina because kailangan kong magpaka-strong para do'n sa baby because kung magiging weak ako ang unang masasaktan 'yung asawa ko."
