Paolo Onesa joins Team Bamboo in ‘The Voice Of The Philippines’

19-year-old Paolo Onesa secured a slot in Team Bamboo during the Blind Auditions aired Saturday night in The Voice Of The Philippines.

Paolo Onesa

The student from Zamboanga gave a soothing rendition of Magkayakap Sa Dilim and he’s got enough soul to make coach Bamboo MaƱalac turn his chair.

At the end of his performance, coach Lea Salonga commented: “for somebody who’s so young… parang meron kang alam tungkol sa kantang ‘yan.”

For Lea and Sarah Geronimo, though, Paolo rightly belongs to Bamboo’s team.

“Kayong dalawa ang magka-swak, e, ni Camp Kawayan (Team Bamboo),” said Lea.

“Tama si Ms. Lea, Paolo,” Sarah said. “Narinig ko ‘yung timbre ni Bamboo. Narinig ko ‘yung influence n’ya sa ‘yo, e.” Then to Bamboo, she added: “He’s all yours.”

When asked by Bamboo what he listens to, Paolo confessed that the rock star has a big influence to his singing.

“Honestly, I listen to your music,” said the ZamboangueƱo student.

Paolo is the eighth artist to be included in Team Bamboo, joining fellow contestants Deb Victa, Lee Grane Maranan, Isa Fabregas, Angelique Alcantara, Myk Perez, Mark and Willy Cordovales, and Angelica Prado.
