The first quarterfinals of Pilipinas Got Talent 4 aired on April 6, 2013. Kris Aquino was back despite her resignation announcement, and Ai-Ai de las Alas had that certain glow perhaps because the Las Vegas wedding was indeed true. Freddie M. Garcia was still in his calm self which is actually good to watch especially when Kris and Ai-Ai get a little pumped up.
First to perform was the The Miss Tres, a vocal trio of transgenders. They sang Elvis Presley’s Crazy Little Thing Called Love and it was loved by the judges. Kris said their singing was clean, Ai-Ai found it stress-releasing, and FMG confessed he loves them.
Chaeremon Basa of Bacolod did an impressive flairtending routine although he dropped a bottle at one point. He used fire in his routine as requested by FMG the last time he performed and for that, he got a “Bilib ako sa ‘yo” statement from the male judge. Meanwhile, according to Kris, Chaeremon’s showmanship improved, and Ai-Ai liked the fact that he showed new techniques.
All In One Crew from Cavite was okay although their choreography was still reminiscent of their previous performance. Kris said the show’s cameramen did a fabulous job for capturing how good the group was. Ai-Ai said the performance registered well on TV, and FMG loved it.
Fourth to perform was Security And Escort Battalion Combo Philippine Army. The group did their version of Ole, Ole, Ole and it was quite fun to watch a man in uniform dancing. Kris and Ai-Ai gave them a standing ovation. Kris said it was the frontman named Willie that made her stand up, Ai-Ai loved Willie’s dance steps and FMG said he thinks Willie had a wrong choice of career because he could have been in showbiz.
The Segutier Triplets of Iloilo did an impressive arnis routine. The 12-year-olds were so synchronized especially in the first part that you would think they did nothing else but practice. The shaved heads made them look Chinese, though, despite arnis being native to the Philippines. Kris saw their level of professionalism and was impressed with the kids’ death-defying routine. Ai-Ai said they leveled up, while FMG thought they were even better than old martial artists when it comes to synchronization.
The magician Marvin Arquero from Bulacan was the last to perform. All three judges were amazed how he made the girl disappear. Kris even marveled at what else he could do if he goes through to the semi-finals.
