Julia Montes will soon be back on primetime television via the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye with the working title of Muling Buksan Ang Puso. She will be joined by Enrique Gil as her leading man in the series.
Julia and Enrique will be supported by Amalia Fuentes, Dante Rivero, Dominic Ochoa, Daniel Fernando, Malou Crisologo, Pooh and Susan Roces.
This was the series Susan talked about during the all-star dinner hosted by movie producer Lily Monteverde for the senatorial bid of Grace Poe, the actress’ daughter. I’m glad she will be reunited with Julia. The two worked together in the phenomenal TV series Walang Hanggan which ended in October.
My guess is that Susan and Amalia will be foes in the story, just like Susan and Helen Gamboa in Walang Hanggan.
It will be more exciting with Susan and Amalia, however, because they were the real rivals in popularity during the 50s and 60s, at the height of their popularity.
The inclusion of Pooh in the series will surely be to provide comic relief to the intense dramatic scenes. He has always been an effective comedian as evident in Banana Nite and Banana Split. He has also recently staged a successful series of comedy concerts titled 4 Da Vote with other top comedians like Chokoleit, K Brosas and Pokwang.
For sure, Muling Buksan Ang Puso will be the next big hit on primetime. I’m just not sure what series it will be replacing, and if it will be shown before the Judy Ann Santos-starrer Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala (former Against All Odds) which has started production ahead of the Julia-Enrique series.
