It Takes A Man And A Woman starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz has already earned at least P300 million during its first two weeks. The good news was revealed over Twitter on Saturday by Mico del Rosario, Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager.
“congratulations naman!! P300M!! #ITakesAManAndAWoman” del Rosario tweeted.
Co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, the movie was shown on Black Saturday, March 30, 2013. It opened with a reported P32.6 million gross, a very high figure considering that a lot of Pinoys were still out on a vacation that day as it was still Holy Week.
The third and final movie featuring the love story of Laida (Sarah) and Miggy (John Lloyd), It Takes A Man And A Woman reportedly made P201 million after just 8 days, surpassing the P179.3 million gross made by A Very Special Love, the first movie in the series, back in 2008.
After two weeks, it has clearly made more than the second movie, 2009’s You Changed My Life, which earned P225.2 million during its run.
With the third movie still showing in the Philippines as well as in the U.S. and Canada, and has at least two more weeks of run, many predict that it will even surpass the figures made by 2011’s Praybeyt Benjamin which is currently the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. It has made P331 million during its run, below the highest grosser, 2012’s Sisterakas, which earned P391 million. Both films starred comedian Vice Ganda.
With the success of It Takes A Man And A Woman, many believe a fourth movie should be made. John Lloyd, however, said that he would be willing to do another one if a better script than that of the current movie can be made.
