The upcoming action-drama movie, On The Job (OTJ), which stars Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson will have a world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in May. The movie was chosen, along with thirty other films from different countries, to be part of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs or the Directors' Fortnight section which is held independently by the French Directors Guild.
Directed by Erik Matti, the movie centers on the story of an NBI agent played by Piolo and a fugitive played by Gerald.
It is the only Pinoy film in the section, but two more from the Philippines will compete in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival. They are Death March which stars Sam Milby and Zanjoe Marudo, and Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan which was directed by Lav Diaz.
Being an action drama, many movie fans predict that it will bring the local action movies back into the picture. But as per this piece of good news, OTJ will not only bring the action back locally. It will also show the world what a Pinoy action movie is like.
Co-produced by Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment, the movie also stars Shaina Magdayao, Joel Torre, Joey Marquez and Angel Aquino.
