The exploitation of Boracay and Panglao islands in “Failon Ngayon” (Nov 10)

It is really “more fun in the Philippines” especially for businessmen who exploit the country’s natural resources to rake in millions of money.

Ted Failon investigates various companies and entrepreneurs who put some of the countries’ popular islands under the weight of exploitation this Saturday (Nov 10) in “Failon Ngayon.”

Last July, “Failon Ngayon” reported the scheduled demolition of 70% of Boracay West Cove resort in Boracay that was illegally put up by its developers. However, no demolition operation has been conducted in the area until now. The local government of Boracay is reportedly spending half a million pesos for the first phase of the demolition alone, which means the public is shouldering the costs to clean up the resort owner’s giant mess.

Bohol’s Panglao island also faces environmental problems. The riprap bordering the shores of Alona beach is reportedly too extensive that it almost consumes the whole seaside.

Don’t miss the full report on “Failon Ngayon” this Saturday (Nov 10), 4:45 PM on ABS-CBN.
