Janice Javier made all four coaches turn during the Blind Auditions of The Voice Of The Philippines last night. Her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s Natural Woman impressed the coaches so much that a chair turned on the first line of the song.
Janice is based in Bangkok, Thailand where she sings with a band. She said The Voice is the perfect contest for her as well as for those who have insecurities about how they look.
“I've never joined any singing contest before because of how I look like. Nasobrahan lang ako sa kalusugan. I think this is my chance to prove and show what I can do,” she said in the video before her performance.
Coach apl.de.ap, whose chair first turned for Janice, described her performance as a “slam dunk,” while Lea Salonga said it was “perfection.”
In the end, Janice picked apl.de.ap over the other three who “fought” for her.
Meanwhile, “Janice Javier” trended worldwide on Twitter right after her performance. Netizens loved her soulful voice and commended how she somehow showed the world that how you look should not stop you from pursuing your dreams.
