A new official trailer for the upcoming movie Carrie was released by Sony Pictures Philippines. It opens in theaters in October 2013.
The movie stars ChloĆ« Grace Moretz as Carrie White, Julianne Moore as Margaret White, Gabriella Wilde as Sue Snell, and Judy Greer as Miss Desjardin. It is directed by Kimberly Peirce. The screenplay written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was based on Stephen King’s 1974 novel with the same title.
Carrie is the story of a bullied girl with telekinetic powers. Its most famous scene is the prom towards the end where Carrie is announced the prom queen but is poured on with pig blood by her haters. The incident drives her mad, sending the school gym into flames with her mind powers.
This is the third film adaptation of the book. The first one was in 1976 which was directed by Brian De Palma. It had Sissy Spacek in the title role, and Piper Laurie as Margaret White.
The second movie was released in 2002 starring Angela Bettis as Carrie and Patricia Clarkson as Margaret.
This new adaptation is said to be “a more faithful adaptation” of the book. Lindsay Lohan was suggested to play the title role by Stephen King himself, which also got Sissy Spacek, the original Carrie, excited. The role, however, eventually went to ChloĆ« Grace Moretz.
