JR Royol won MasterChef Pinoy Edition in the grand finals that was held on Saturday, February 9, 2013, live at the SM North EDSA Skydome. He now holds the title as the first-ever Pinoy MasterChef.
He bested the other two finalists Carla Marcaida and Ivory Yat. Myra Santos, who was part of the Final Four, got eliminated early in the grand finals for getting the lowest ranking.
JR won P1 million from Clara Oil, a kitchen showcase from Whirlpool, and a Diploma Program for Professional Culinary Arts scholarship at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies.
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino and Kapamilya actor Richard Gomez sat as judges during the finals that was dubbed MasterChef Pinoy Edition: The Live Cook-off.
Meanwhile, Carla, Ivory and Myra got P500,000, P300,000 and P200,000 in cash as second, third and fourth placers respectively. They also each got a kitchen package from Fujidenzo and a scholarship at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies.
