Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws players Anthony Hargrove, Jr. and Adam Mohammed were arrested near their campus on Wednesday for possession of marijuana.
Authorities said they approached the two because they were acting suspiciously while smoking along the corner of Nicanor Reyes Street and Recto Avenue. They found dried marijuana leaves after frisking the two.
Hargrove, a transferee from Pennsylvania, and Mohammed, a Canadian national, both 22, were suspected of smoking marijuana while walking, reason for the suspicious actions.
They were detained at the Manila Police District Sampaloc Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Meanwhile, FEU Tamaraws coach Nash Racela refused to give a statement and said he will only do so after talking to his two players. He also hasn’t posted anything on his Twitter account regarding the matter.
