Nate Tao tried his luck in the Oklahoma leg of American Idol 12 auditions and he had a little story that touched my heart.
He is an American sign language teacher and what inspired him to be one was his parents who are both deaf.
Imagine being a singer with both your parents deaf and couldn’t hear you sing!
He went to the audition with his dad who even taught host Ryan Seacrest some sign language. They’re from West Virginia and his voice was keen enough to make him stand out.
All four judges said yes. Mariah Carey enjoyed it, Nicki Minaj thought his voice was really nice and had a unique tone for a guy, and Keith Urban described it as effortless and beautiful.
