ER Ejercito loves PMPC despite controversial Best Actor loss

ER Ejercito does not hold any grudge against the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) despite the recent controversy brought about by the internet posts of his PR man Jobert Sucaldito.

Ejercito was among the nominees for Best Actor at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies held Sunday night. Vice Ganda won the award.

Come Monday, Sucaldito alleged that Vice's win was paid and that a voting member of the PMPC campaigned for his win.

The PMPC has already denied Sucaldito's allegations through a statement saying they "strongly refute the said allegation" and that "there will be forces that will try to destroy the credibility and reputation of the Club, but the PMPC will remain committed to its objectives, and no amount of intimidation and coercion can shake its foundation."

On Wednesday, Ejercito said he respects the press, including the PMPC.

"Mahal ko ang ENPRESS, mahal ko ang PMPC, mahal ko ang lahat ng media. Kaya nga taun-taon binibigyan ko sila ng Christmas party. Mahal ko ang pelikulang Pilipino, mahal ko ang entertainment press. Mabuhay ang PMPC," he said on Wednesday on the sidelines of Gawad Tanglaw, as quoted by abs-cbnnews.com.

The actor-politician also added that he already feels like a winner just by being nominated amd that winning is just an added bonus.

Meanwhile, he said he also respects the opinion and good intentions of Sucaldito.

“I respect the opinion and the good intentions of Mr. Jobert Sucaldito. Mahusay at magaling na tao si Jobert at nirerespeto ko ang kanyang opinyon na i-correct ang maling ginagawa sa industriya. Mabuhay ka Jobert Sucaldito,” he said.

Sucaldito revealed on Monday that he lobbied for Ejercito and commissioned 22 out of 38 voting members of the PMPC just so the Boy Golden actor would win. He alleged, however, that his efforts went to waste because a voting member campaigned for Vice Ganda.

A voting member is not allowed to lobby for a nominee.

Despite not winning Best Actor, Ejercito thanked the PMPC for the awards that his movie, Boy Golden, took home Sunday night, including Best Actress for his leading lady KC Concepcion, Best Production Design, Best Music and Theme Song.
