Gerald Anderson says mistakes make him a better person

Gerald Anderson guested in Aquino & Abunda Tonight on Friday to promote Dyesebel where he plays one of Anne Curtis' leading men.

It was a little awkward at first because Kris Aquino, one of the hosts, is known to be a close friend of the actor's former girlfriend, Kim Chiu.

To clear the air, Aquino welcomed Anderson by shaking his hand after thanking him for his "bravery."

"Thank you for the bravery to be here tonight!" Aquino said, then explaining that it's because it's a known fact that she treats Chiu as her eldest daughter.

"Siyempre kasi hindi naman sikreto sa mga fans, 'di ba, na I treat Kim like my eldest," she said. "But everybody has moved on. We all deserve happiness and love, right?"

Anderson and Chiu broke up in 2010, a break-up that was again talked about early last year when it was revealed that the actor was dating his now girlfriend Maja Salvador.

The dating became controversial because Chiu and Salvador were best of friends. The two had a falling out since.

During the interview, Aquino asked if Anderson, who has a playboy image, is capable of fidelity.

After Chiu, he had a whirlwind romance with Bea Alonzo. He also courted Sarah Geronimo before dating Salvador.

"I've made mistakes," was the actor's reply. "It makes me a better person."

"Did you learn?" Aquino followed up.

"Of course," Anderson answered.

In Dyesebel, he plays the role of Fredo, the human who falls in love with a mermaid. The series will air its pilot on Monday, March 17, 2014.
