Malaya Watson's 'A Long And Winding Road' gets her through to Top 8 (American Idol 13)

American Idol 13 has revealed the Top 8 on Thursday (Friday in Manila) and Filipino-American contestant Malaya Watson gets through.

She got praises from the judges for her rendition of Beatles' A Long And Winding Road on Wednesday. It also earned her those precious votes from American audience to make her stay in the competition.

She was likened by judge Jennifer Lopez to the late Michael Jackson, saying she could hear notes of the King of Pop in Watson's voice.

"It sounds like the sweetness of a young Michael Jackson. I hear hints of it," Lopez said after the performance.

Judge Keith Urban also praised Watson's performance.

"You really chose a performance that showed us your voice and I could really feel your voice," Urban said.

Harry Connick Jr., on the other hand, advised the 16-year-old singer to focus on her craft.

"Forget about stardom. All of that will happen. Work on your craft. Nice job tonight," he said.

Aside from Watson, C.J. Harris, Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston, Dexter Roberts and Sam Woolf also made it to the Top 8.

It was Majesty Rose who said goodbye.
