Fear gripped SM City North EDSA as the shoppers allegedly heard a gunshot and a commotion on Sunday night, December 15, 2013.
People inside the department store ran in fear, wanting to immediately get out.
According to reports, a jewelry store was robbed and the shootout happened between the thieves and the security guards as the group, eventually identified as the Martilyo Gang, was fleeing.
Meanwhile, SM Super Malls posted on Twitter a statement regarding the incident, confirming that it was the Martilyo Gang behind the robbery.
“An incident involving martilyo gang occurred in a store in @SMNorthEdsa. The police is on top of the situation & handling the matter. No one was hurt & the mall remains open.”
On its Facebook page, SM City North EDSA said the mall remains open as the incident is already being handled by the police.
“There was a Martilyo gang robbery incident in a store in SM City North EDSA. The Police is on top of the situation and handling the matter. No one was hurt. The mall remains open.”
