A Pacita-bound bus fell off the Skyway on Monday morning, December 16, 2013, killing at least 22 people.
According to reports, the Don Mariano bus was over speeding which caused it to skid and fall off into the southbound service road in Bicutan, pinning a closed van in the process.
A witness named Irene Sisperez said she was the only one who saw the incident as there was no other vehicle in that part other than hers. The bus was allegedly going around 100-110 kph as it passed by her car, while she was going 80 kph, as what the road signs say.
Soon after, she saw the Don Mariano bus, which was only a few meters ahead of her, fall off. She immediately reported the incident to the Skyway personnel in the nearest toll gate.
As of posting time, the driver of the van that the bus fell onto reportedly survived.
Almost all the survivors who were inside the bus, however, were injured.
The incident caused so much traffic along the Bicutan interchange, affecting the roads as far as Lower Bicutan. The blogger personally experienced it as he got stuck in heavy traffic jam on his way home from the first Simbang Gabi service of the year.
