DOST’s Project NOAH launched

Project NOAH, which stands for Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards, was put up by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in response to President Aquino’s call for a better disaster prevention in the country, most especially in high-risk areas.

The project was launched in Marikina on July 6, 2012, with no other than the president as the guest of honor.

The president talked about DOST’s target to install 600 locally-produced automated rain gauges and 400 water level monitoring sensors in selected areas of the country before 2013 ends.

He also commended the project’s website, www.noah.dost.gov.ph, which will be fully functional anytime soon. Through the website, data such as weather and rain intensity in your area could easily be accessible.

Check out in the video below the full speech of the president during the launch of Project Noah on July 6, 2012.
