Movements to solve classroom shortage in “Krusada” (August 2)

Broadcast journalist Abner Mercado will feature bold Filipinos who have made building classrooms in the country their personal crusade in this Thursday’s (August 2) “Krusada” on ABS-CBN.

Catch the story and campaign of lawyer Angelo Valencia who has pioneered classroom-building projects in Mt. Pulag, the highest peak in Luzon, where students used to travel far just to attend classes everyday.

“I believe that if you really want something, you don’t have to rely on the government for something to happen,” said Angelo.

President Noynoy Aquino recently promised to resolve the country’s classroom shortages in his recent State of the Nation Address. However, Abner’s report will show that many concerned private individuals and groups are already working to provide a better future for students in the country.

With the help of his wife Angela and his friends, who he calls “Alphabet Warriors,” Angelo has amassed funds for the building of the first additional classrooms in Mt. Pulag Primary School.

Also making waves in the education sector is “TEN Moves,” a movement that seeks to build 10,000 classrooms all over the country through public fundraising.

Because it takes more than words to take a stand, watch “Krusada” this Thursday (August 2) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m.
