Typhoon “Gener” intensifies, Storm Signal No. 2 raised in Northern Luzon (5 PM, July 29)

Typhoon Gener has intensified, according to the latest bulletin of PAGASA.

The center is now estimated based on the satellite and surface data at 390 kilometers (km) east southeast of Aparri, Cagayan. It has a maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometer per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. Typhoon Gener is forecast to move north northwest at 15 kph.

Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) No. 2 has been raised over some provinces of Northern Luzon such as Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands, Babuyan Group of Islands and Batanes Group of Islands.

Provinces with PSWS No. 1 are Isabela, Kalinga and Apayao.

The rains over Metro Manila, some parts of Luzon and Visayas are the effect of Southwest Monsoon being enhanced by Typhoon Gener. The weather is expected to remain the same until the typhoon is out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday or Wednesday.
