Vice Ganda gets throat examined, undergoes digital stroboscopy

After announcing his throat condition on Monday which was the reason why he temporarily left It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to post photos of his visit to his doctor.

The comedian-host went back to his otolaryngologist Dr. Melfred Hernandez to undergo digital stroboscopy.

The procedure is described by medscape.com as a “special method used to visualize vocal fold vibration. It uses a synchronized, flashing light passed through a flexible or rigid telescope. The flashes of light from the stroboscope are synchronized to the vocal fold vibration at a slightly slower speed, allowing the examiner to observe vocal fold vibration during sound production in what appears to be slow motion.”

Vice revealed on Monday that his doctor found polyps in his vocal chords, the upper part of which is seriously damaged.

“The doc found polyps in my vocal chords. Di na nagsasara yung upper part coz its seriously damaged. The blood vessels are swollen and might collapse. I have also acid reflux na lalong nagpalala. Were trying steroids now and strictly no talk for the next days. Pag di gumaling i wil have to undergo surgery. Ilang araw nkong papel at ballpen ang katapat ko dahil kailangan kong isulat kung anung sasabihin ko. It will take a few days but im sure ill be fine. The Lord loves me. Im not even bothered,” he said in a series of posts on his Twitter account.

Meanwhile, his recent tweets reveal that he is on his way to a Batangas beach with his grandfather.

“On the road to Batangas. Taking my Lolo to the beach. I don't really need my voice now. I just need my hands to hold him. Love moves,” he said.
