Typhoon “Ferdie” update (5 PM, July 21)

Tropical Depression “Ferdie” is now moving in a west northwest direction away from the country, affecting the Southwest Monsoon affectign the rest of the country.

Heavy rains have stopped in some areas of Metro Manila this afternoon but later came back again with strong winds, causing power failure in some areas.

Synopsis:

At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression "FERDIE" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 240 km west northwest of Laoag City (18.6°N, 118.0°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph. Southwest Monsoon affecting the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Forecast:

Ilocos provinces and Abra will experience rains and gusty winds with moderate to rough seas. The rest of the country will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the rest of the country with moderate to rough seas.
