1st Philippine Popular Music Festival (PhilPop) list of winners

Karl Villuga’s Bawat Hakbang was declared the winner of the 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival during the finals that was held on July 14 at the PICC Plenary Hall.

Interpreted by Mark Bautista and the Akafellas, Bawat Hakbang received the grand prize of P1 million and trophy.

The 1st runner-up trophy plust P500,000 went to Ronaldo “Toto” Sorioso’s Tayo-Tayo Lang which was interpreted by Ebe Dancel, while the 2nd runner-up trophy plus P250,000 went to Soc Villanueva’s Kontrabida interpreted by Sam Concepcion.

James B. Leyte’s Brown also received a trophy and P200,000 for being the Smart People’s Choice Award. The song was interpreted by Brown Man Revival.

The event was hosted by Ogie Alcasid and Nikki Gil, with special performances from Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Hajji Alejandro and Basil Valdez.
