Regine Velasquez loses voice during anniversary concert, gets support of fellow singers and fans

Regine Velasquez felt the need to go on with her silver anniversary concert Friday night even if she has no voice.

The Asia’s Songbird was reportedly struck with a throat infection which made it impossible for her to sing normally.

Regine kept going for the high notes even at the risk of going sharp due to her condition. At one point, she called onstage Anton Diva, her impersonator, to help her with On The Wings Of Love.

The singer also called in ace comedian Vice Ganda to perform for the audience, saying, “If I can’t give you my voice, I can give you entertainment.”

Instead of being disappointed, the crowd cheered for Regine especially after she broke down and said she thought she was going to be booed. She promised to hold a free concert to make up for last night.

Messages of support poured over Twitter which included words from fellow singers like Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Erik Santos and Gary Valenciano.

Just recently on her official Twitter account, the Songbird expressed her gratitude to her fans and to all those who supported her concert.
