Janice Javier and Lance Fabros sang Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ during the Battle Rounds episode of The Voice Of The Philippines Saturday night. It was extra special because the current Journey front man, Arnel Pineda, was apl.de.ap’s guest adviser.
While Lance did good, Janice definitely was way better during the performance. She’s very comfortable on stage and she was very easy to listen to. Her singing came through as almost effortless.
“I wanna congratulate you guys, you did an amazing job, both of you,” their coach, apl, said after their performance.
“Today you showed so much versatility and I know the goal you’re trying to reach is for your daughter and that came out on stage tonight,” the Black Eyed Peas member told Lance, who was vocal from day one that his ultimate goal was to be reunited with his daughter.
Apl turned to Janice next: “Janice, you sang a rock song and you took it to a different avenue. Even with all the criticisms I’m really proud of both of you guys.”
On the said episode before their performance, a video was shown with a crying Janice. She got emotional when she narrated how people criticized her for her size.
In the end, apl.de.ap had to make a choice, and he chose the better performer that night.
“Ang panalo sa battle na ‘to ay si Janice.”
