Megan Young won the title of Miss World Philippines 2013 during the pageant night held on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire Resort & Casino. The 23-year-old actress and host best 25 other pretty candidates from all over the country.
As the winner, she will be representing the Philippines in the Miss World 2013 pageant on September 28 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Such short period for preparation but then again what could be a better training ground than showbiz?
Megan also got the most number of special awards including Best in Fashion Runway and Miss Sports, two awards that are very important come international competition.
Janicel Lubina, 18, of Cainta, Rizal was the 1st Princess (1st runner-up). She was also Best in Swimwear and Miss Photogenic.
Both Megan and Janicel were early favorites, but I personally agree with Megan as the winner. The experience and maturity she acquired from her years of being in showbiz could help her in bringing home that blue crown.

The event was hosted by Carla Abellana, KC Montero, Victor Basa, Divine Lee, and Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendolyn Ruais.
Judges include Dennis Trillo, Jessa Zaragoza and ER Ejercito. Members of the Philippine Volcanoes were also there, joining the candidates on stage during the swimsuit competition.
Among the performers were Kris Lawrence, Kuh Ledesma and Tom Rodriguez, whose My Husband’s Lover love team, Dennis, was at the judges’ panel.
