Melissa Ricks is back in the country after spending six weeks in the US following her break-up with Paul Jake Castillo.
And now that she’s here, she was able to shed light as to what caused their split. Paul Jake gave vague explanations of it before, but as Melissa said, they have agreed that she would be the one to talk to the press about the break-up because the Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate isn’t used to explaining himself during interviews.
“Minsan, mali ‘yung nasasabi niya, so sabi niya, ako nalang sumagot,” the 23-year-old actress told ABS-CBN News.
Melissa revealed that they have remained friends, and it’s actually because they wanted to save the friendship that’s why they decided to end the relationship.
“There's no... solid reason [for the breakup],” she started. “Siguro we just cherished the friendship more than anything else.”
She confessed that there were fights towards the end of their relationship, just like what Paul Jake said during an episode of Kris TV.
“Nung end part na ng relationship, lagi kaming nag-aaway, laging nagkakainitan ng ulo. Minsan hindi kami magkausap kahit magkasama kami, and we don't know why,” Melissa continued.
But she added that they still care and love each other when they decided to put an end to it.
“’Yung care nando'n pa rin, ‘yung love nando’n pa rin, pero maybe it’s better na tapusin na habang hindi pa magulo,” she said.
Both of them tried to save what they have but it didn’t work out.
“Kung ipipilit mo, masisira lang kayong dalawa, gugulo lang kayong dalawa,” she added, basing it on experience. “I’ve experienced that before, and I don't want that to happen again, kasi mas mabigat ‘yun, e.”
She could perhaps be referring to what happened between him and Jake Cuenca, who was her boyfriend before Paul Jake.
When asked if she has already managed to become friends with Cuenca after their bad break-up in 2011, she quipped, “No, of course not!”
Cuenca recently said in an interview that he was trying to fix things with Melissa. And to that, this is what the actress had to say: “Kasi ako, if you're going to say something, you better just say it truthfully. Hindi 'yung magsasabi ka lang para maganda ka tingnan ng tao, or so you seem like a better person. If you are doing something, you don't have to tell other people or tell the whole world before you do it.”
Meanwhile, many are hoping that Melissa and Paul Jake eventually become a couple again. After all, they are still friends and the love is still there.
