Gilas Pilipinas wins against Saudi Arabia in 27th FIBA Asia

The Philippine national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, won over Saudi Arabia's team during their first game at the 27th FIBA Asia being held at the Mall of Asia (MoA) Arena on Thursday.

The game ended with the score of 78-66 in favor of Gilas, but the win didn't come easy due to their bad shooting and turnovers during the early part of the day.

The team, however, owned the court during third quarter courtesy of LA Tenorio and Marcus Douthit. They even made it as far as getting a 16-point lead, 66-50, during the last 6 minutes.

LA and Larry Fonacier had 12 points each at the end of the game.

Despite the win, the team was aware that it was a bad game.

"We had too many turnovers, I think we had 11 turnovers or something in the first half," coach Chot Reyes said after the game, explaining that it caused their bad start.

Later today, Gilas Pilipinas is set to face the team from Jordan, which recently lost against Chinese Taipei.
