Bamboo Mañalac became controversial once again for his pick in The Voice Of The Philippines Battle Rounds on Sunday, August 4th.
The coach chose Paolo Onesa, an acoustic singer from Zamboanga, who he described as a dark horse in the competition.
During the first Battle Rounds episode, Bamboo also hit the headlines for choosing Lee Grane Maranan over Dan Billano, when the latter obviously outperformed the former on the stage at that particular time.
Meanwhile, Paolo’s voice was thick and soothing to the ears, as compared to the father-and-son tandem of Mark and Willy Cordovales who he battled with during last night’s episode.
Mark and Willy from Antipolo gave quite an animated performance. Their moves on stage were entertaining but they seemed to remind me of comic duos like the Reycards or even Wally and Jose.
Anyway, Coach Bamboo banked on the musicality of Paolo who seemed to have become speechless with his coach’s choice. He was obviously expecting otherwise that’s why his expression was almost blank while everyone rooting for him was cheering.
“Paolo, I believe in you so you have to believe in yourself,” was Bamboo’s advice to the singer.
