After over 5 years, Showbiz Central will air its final episode on July 29, 2012.
The GMA-7 Sunday showbiz-oriented show first aired in the early part of 2007 hosted by Pia Guanio, John Lapus, Raymond Gutierrez, Mo Twister and Rufa Mae Quinto.
Mo quit the show when he transferred to TV5 in 2010. Rufa Mae also moved to TV5 and made her last appearance as host of the show on April 15, 2012.
Jennylyn Mercado started as guest co-host and was made regular recently.
Aside from the ratings, another reason why the show is going to end is Pia Guanio’s maternity leave and Jennylyn Mercado’s busy sched as she has a new afternoon soap, Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa.
But, of course, people think it’s really the poor ratings. The show wasn’t even part of the top 10 daytime programs in last Sunday’s Kantar Media ratings.
Showbiz Central will be replaced by a new magazine show that will reportedly be hosted by Regine Velasquez and Roderick Paulate. So Kuya Dick will be GMA-7’s answer to ABS-CBN’s Boy Abunda of The Buzz?
The new show will premiere the Sunday following Showbiz Central’s last airing.
