KZ Tandingan impresses “X Factor” judges

KZ Tandingan of Digos, Davao del Sur got a standing ovation from all four judges of The X Factor Philippines.

The pint-sized DavaoeƱa impressed Charice, Gary Valenciano, Pilita Corales and Martin Nievera with the unique style of singing that she showcased when she rendered her version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

KZ, who would remind one of Melai Cantiveros with her long wavy hair and her accent, didn’t even know her “genre” and said that it was her own.

Her soulful voice had a little Amy Winehouse thing and a touch of reggae and she was very easy to listen to. Her high notes were thick and her melisma was not overdone.

After her performance, and after getting a standing ovation and hug from Charice, the people shouted for more. And, of course, the judges were more than happy to hear her sing another song.

KZ sang Ready Or Not and I personally thought she’s gonna do a full sultry  version of the Jackson 5 song, but no, she did The Fugees version and surprised everyone when she rapped in Tagalog.

Her first song was enough to make her go through the auditions, but the second song earned her fans that will surely vote for her when time comes.

KZ got four yeses, of course, and made her province very proud.
