The third Battle Rounds episode of The Voice Of The Philippines aired on Sunday, August 4th, and another batch of four artists made it through to the Live Shows.
First to perform were Paolo Onesa vs the father and son tandem of Mark and Willy Cordovales. They were given Panalangin to battle on and while the the duo were all hyped up, Paolo’s midrange vocals shone in the number. His voice quality was thick and he seemed to not be pressured at all.
Guest adviser Joey Ayala chose the Cordovales, but Coach Bamboo picked Paolo to advance to the Live Shows.
“Paolo, I believe in you so you have to believe in yourself,” was his message to the singer who, as per his reaction, wasn’t expecting to win.
Team Lea’s Taw Muhammad and Kim Mainit performed next. Their song was Without You and it was arranged beautifully. Both Taw and Kim, who became friends in the competition, sang as if they’re a duet and not competitors. The song was very relaxed and both had distinct voice qualities that Lea Salonga found it hard to choose between them.
Crying, Lea picked Kim over Taw.
Cara Manglapus, Moira Dela Torre and Penelope Matanguihan had a three-way battle. They did One Night Only and all had their own style.
But since he could only choose one, Coach apl.de.ap picked Penelope.
The last to perform were Team Sarah’s Junji Arias and Dave Lamar. They did Bohemian Rhapsody and Dave’s falsetto was surprisingly good. His level of energy was so high but Junji’s musicality overpowered him.
In the end, coach Sarah Geronimo picked Junji to advance to the Live Shows.
