Qatar won against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday in the 27th FIBA Asia Men’s Basketball Championships at the Mall of Asia Arena with a score of 71-68.
The win (and the score difference) was what Pinoys have been hoping for because it will give Gilas Pilipinas a chance to top Group E. All the Philippine team has to do now is defeat the winless team from Hong Kong to be on top.
If Chinese Taipei won, however, it would have guaranteed their place on top, same with if Qatar won by at least 16 points. The universe seemed to favor the Philippines, though, because not only did Chinese lost, Qatar also won by only 3 points.
The fight was very tight, the score even tying at 68 with less than a minute in the final quarter.
Qatar’s Yasseen Musa, who made 20 points and 19 rebounds, said they had a tough game especially that they only had less than 15 hours of rest after their match with Philippines last night.
