Judy Ann Santos to end ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’ instead of being moved to later timeslot again

Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala is set to air its last episode later this month. Although the exact date has not been confirmed by ABS-CBN yet, persistent rumors say the Judy Ann Santos starrer will end on August 23.

Judy Ann Santos

The series premiered on June 17 and served as Juday’s return to primetime television, and she was given the new title of “Pinoy Soap Opera Queen” by the Kapamilya Network.

Alfie Lorenzo, the actress’s manager, recently said that his talent wants to end the soap while it is still on top of the ratings chart. Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala consistently beats its rival program My Husband’s Lover in the Kantar Media surveys.

However, talks say otherwise. The network allegedly wanted to move the series to a later timeslot to give way to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s Got To Believe. If that happens, it would be the second time HKLM is moved. It first aired (and did better ratings wise) at 8:30 PM when it premiered but was eventually moved one slot later to give way for Muling Buksan Ang Puso.

Rumors say Judy Ann didn’t like the idea of being moved twice, much more to a very late timeslot with very limited viewership, so she told the network to just end the drama series instead.

Her contract with ABS-CBN also ends soon and if ever these rumors are true, I wonder if Judy Ann would want to renew her contract with ABS-CBN anytime near.
