GMA-7’s television series Indio is set to premiere in January 2013. Starring Bong Revilla as the lead character named Malaya, the series is a historical drama set in the 1500s.
Touted as the biggest and most expensive teleserye of the Kapuso Network, Indio will also star some of the prettiest Kapuso leading ladies including Rhian Ramos, Sam Pinto, Maxene Magalona, Solenn Heussaff and Jennylyn Mercado.
Also part of the cast are Vincent Magbanua as the young Malaya, Alden Richards as the young adult Malaya, Sarah Lahbati as Ynaguinid, Rachelle Ann Go as Libulan, Sheena Halili as Mayang, Rocco Nacino, Fabio Ide, Jomari Yllana, Agot Isidro, Jackielou Blanco, Michael de Mesa, Polo Ravales, Dominic Roco, Ryza Cenon, Rap Fernandez, King Gutierrez, Tom Olivar, Vaness del Moral, Pen Medina, Lucho Ayala, Robert Arevalo, Bobby Andrews, Maritoni Fernandez, Benjie Paras, Marco Alcaraz, Chinggoy Alonzo, Ramon Christopher, and BJ Forbes.
Indio was created by Suzette Doctolero, who also created Amaya. Dondon Santos is directing, and it is his first project for GMA-7. He was known for directing ABS-CBN’s Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat Ni Ramon Revilla.
The historical drama is supervised by Rolando Borrinaga and Dr. Vic Villan of University of the Philippines-Diliman. Villan also supervised the hit historical fiction, Amaya, which starred Marian Rivera.
A teaser-trailer for Indio will premiere this Sunday, December 9, during the live telecast of Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Manuel Marquez.
