Star Cinema’s Sisterakas is doing so well in the box-office and is the most-watched of all eight 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries since day one.
Starring Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai Delas Alas, the Wenn V. Deramas-helmed movie made P39.2-million on the first day of MMFF. It only showed that aside from the comic talents of the cast, Filipinos chose to laugh on Christmas day, rather than cry, be afraid, or be amazed with magical characters.
Sisterakas continued its box-office success up until the last Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) update, the fifth day gross.
For its first five days, the comedy film has already made P167-million, and that’s only until Saturday, December 30. Considering that Sunday is a family day, it will surely reach an approximate of P200-million when the sixth day gross is released.
Following Sisterakas in the box-office results is another Star Cinema entry, the drama movie One More Try, with P91-million. Its being named as this year’s MMFF Best Picture boosted its box-office appeal. Up to Dec. 27, the Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban-starrer ranked third, but after the MMFF awarding ceremonies on Thursday night, it went up to the second spot beating Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako.
Agimat now ranks third with P79-million, followed by The Strangers with P72-million, Shake Rattle and Roll 14 with P66-million, Sosy Problems with P37-million, El Presidente with P30-million, and Thy Womb with P24-million.
