"Bwakaw" doesn't make it to Oscars shortlist

Jun Lana's Bwakaw failed to make it in the shortlist of movies vying for spots in the Best Foreign Film category of the 85th Academy Awards.

The movie which is about the life of an old man and his friendship with a dog got good reviews from foreign critics. It even recently gave lead star Eddie Garcia a best actor award at the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival.

Sadly, the movie still failed to impress the jury to be able to make it to the Oscars. But then being one of the 71 qualified movies from around the world was already a big honor.

The nine movies that made it to the shortlist were:

1. “Amour” (Austria)
2. “War Witch” (Canada)
3. “No” (Chile)
4. “A Royal Affair" (Denmark)
5. “The Intouchables" (France)
6. “The Deep" (Iceland)
7. “Kon-Tiki" (Norway)
8. “Beyond the Hills" (Romania)
9. “Sister" (Switzerland)
