Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 missing

Relatives and friends of the 227 passengers of the missing Malaysia Airline Flight MH370 gathered in the airport in Beijing where the plane was expected to land Saturday morning.

The B777-200 aircraft left Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 12:41 AM of March 8, 2014 and expected to land in Beijing at 6:30 AM the same day.

The airplane, however, lost contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control at 2:40 AM. It has been put on a missing status since.

A report in Vietnam said the airplane crashed in the sea within the country's territory, but Malaysian authorities still haven't confirmed the report.

Here's the statement released by Malaysia Airlines on Saturday morning:
Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 has lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today (8 March 2014).
Flight MH370, operated on the B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on 8 March 2014. MH370 was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day.
The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members.
Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.
