Vic Sotto almost did a sitcom on ABS-CBN, as Kris Aquino revealed during a press conference for My Little Bossings.
The Kris TV host said that Vic’s guesting in her then game show Game Ka Na Ba was one of the most-watched episodes of the show and it paved the way for negotiations between the comedian and the network.
“Ang unang nagpasabi, I can admit that, na it’s Tita Cory Vidanes. Way back, 2002 yata 'yun, nag-guest si Vic sa ‘Game Ka Na Ba.’ One of the highest rated episodes nung time na 'yun. Nag-meet na sila ni Tita Cory para gumawa sana siya ng sitcom sa ABS,” she said, as quoted by abs-cbnnews.com.
The sitcom, however, didn’t push through because GMA-7, the TV station that airs Eat Bulaga! of which Vic is one of the hosts, equaled the Kapamilya Network’s offer to Vic.
“That was the time din na re-negotiations with GMA. Tinapatan [ng GMA ang offer]. So hindi natuloy 'yung sa ABS kahit dalawa or tatlong meetings na. So nung nakiki-meeting ako kay Tita Cory para sa TV rights [ng movie], siya nagpaalala. Sabi niya, ‘Please remind Vic na 11 or 12 years ago, hinintay ko na ito. Baka naman ngayon puwede na,” she added.
Vic, however, wouldn’t talk about it anew.
“Sabi niya sa akin, ‘Puwede ba Kris tapusin muna natin ito tapos mamaya na lang iyan.’ So sabi ko, ‘But they are going to pay you a lot.’ Pero relaxed lang talaga siya. So sabi ko, ‘Okay, kung kailan ka na lang ready.’”
Aside from Eat Bulaga!, Vic also topbills Vampire Ang Daddy Ko, a Saturday night sitcom on the Kapuso Network.
He doesn’t have a contract with GMA-7, though, as Eat Bulaga! is produced by TAPE Inc. and the sitcom is produced by M-Zet TV Productions.
Meanwhile, Vic and Kris are part of the movie My Little Bossings together with child actress-host Ryzza Mae Dizon and Kris’s son Bimby Yap who’s making his acting debut.
An official entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival, the movie opens in theaters on December 25.
