Seattle Seahawks raises funds for Yolanda victims

NFL’s Seattle Seahawks held a fund-raising game for the super typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines. They were able to raise $12,000 which was matched by owner Paul Allen. They will sending a total of $24,000 to the Philippines through the Red Cross in Washington.

Before the said game against the Minnesota Vikings, Filipino-American Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin Jr. carried the Philippine flag to the center of the field. His grandmother is from Tacloban.

As shown in the above image, the flag was inverted so that the red part is on top. It was purposely done, according to the team’s Twitter account, because “we are fighting the devastation of #Haiyan which has been worse than many war-torn regions of the world.”
