Award-winning stars Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo, and Angelica Panganiban shared that their latest Star Cinema film “One More Try” is their most challenging dramatic movie to date. The said first-ever modern family drama masterpiece of critically-acclaimed director Ruel S. Bayani will hit theaters nationwide beginning Christmas (December 25), along with other entries in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
“I was mostly excited, unang-una dahil ‘One More Try’ is going to be my first MMFF movie as a director,” said Direk Ruel. “It’s an experience for any director na magkuwento ng isang espesyal na materyal na mapapanood ng maraming tao sa panahon ng Pasko. ‘One More Try’ is the best family movie this festival because it’s a modern family drama na magbibigay inspirasyon, mae-enjoy, at kapupulutan ng aral ng mga tao sa panahon ng Kapaskuhan.
Meanwhile, Angel’s plan to take a short break from doing films failed as soon as she heard about the brave plot of “One More Try” that tackles about a loving single mother Grace (Angel) who is willing to sacrifice everything to save her ill son. Never pa kami nagkatrabaho pero nabibisita ko siya sa set niya dati nung nasa GMA pa kami noon at marami nga akong naririnig na magagandang bagay tungkol sa kaniya,” shared Angel, who also worked for the first time with Angelica, Zanjoe, and Dingdong.
Like Angel, Angelica was absolutely in awe of the brave and unique story of “One More Try.” I think first time siyang ita-tackle sa pelikula. Sobrang unique,” she said.
“One More Try” will not ony feature the first team-up of four of the country’s most talented actors and actresses, it will also highlight the first dramatic role of Zanjoe, who considers his latest Star Cinema film as his biggest project to date.
The impact of “One More Try” was so strong that even Dingdong learned something from the stories of their characters. “I think kung gaano kabilis mag-evolve ‘yung movie as a story ganon din siguro kabilis ang magiging impact sa audience dahil nung umpisa sabi adult drama but syempre as we were shooting nung nakikita namin ‘yung dynamics ng pagkakaron ng isang bata eventually it turned out to be more of a family movie than an adult type of movie na alam naman natin na karamihan ng pinalabas this year ay mga ganong tema,” Dingdong shared.
When their child Botchok’s (Miguel Vergara) rare blood condition becomes more severe, ex-lovers Grace (Angel) and Edward (Dingdong) were left with no choice but to have another child and they need to do it the natural way. Edward was hesitant at first but her wife Jacq (Angelica) gives him permission. For Botchok’s sake, even Grace’s dedicated boyfriend Tristan (Zanjoe) agreed on it.
In a situation where a life of an innocent child is at stake, can Grace, Edward, Tristan and Jacqueline sacrifice their personal feelings in order to cure Botchok (Miguel Vergara)? In this kind of pursuit, who will eventually win–Jacqueline who will go for a kill to save her faltering marriage with Edward or Grace, the devoted mother who will do anything to save her son even if it means compromising her relationship with the man who truly loves her?
Aside from the first team-up of Angel, Angelica, Zanjoe and Dingdong, also featured in “One More Try”: are Carmina Villaroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez, at Ms. Gina PareƱo.
Don’t miss the most dramatic film to conclude 2012, “One More Try,” which will be shown on cinemas nationwide starting December 25.
