Piolo Pascual begged off from doing a role in Kimmy Dora: The Quantum Of Kiyeme, an entry to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival this December.
The actor is busy with promotions for On The Job and his Star Cinema movie with Toni Gonzaga, plus he also reportedly has a new series opposite Bea Alonzo. It will be impossible for him to do Kimmy Dora in time for the festival.
He is one of the producers of the comedy movie, though, so he is still in it albeit behind the cameras.
“He can't do the movie anymore because of his schedule kasi may ginagawa rin siyang mga pelikula ngayon,” his co-producer under Spring Films, Erickson Raymundo, told ABS-CBN News. “So meron kaming mga kailangang habulin schedule at hindi na siya nagma-match, so nag-decide naman kami to allow him not to do it na rin.”
Piolo was replaced by Sam Milby for the role. Although quite pressured because of the success of the previous two Kimmy Dora movies, Sam was thankful because the role came just in time with the nearing finale of his teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.
“Syempre excited ako at kinakabahan,” Sam revealed. “Exciting at medyo nakakatakot din. May kaba, but of course this is a... syempre 'yung success ng first two, nakakatulong talaga 'yun. I mean, Kimmy Dora is already established and people really loved it, accepted it. Ako rin, I’m a fan, so I think that will also help a lot for this third sequel.”
Topbilled by Eugene Domingo, The Quantum Of Kiyeme is a prequel to the first two movies - Kimmy Dora: Kambal Sa Kiyeme (2009) and Kimmy Dora And The Temple Of Kiyeme (2012). It will be directed by Chris Martinez and is a co-production between Spring Films and Star Cinema.
