Maki Ricafort got the highest percentage of votes within his team during the second Live Show of The Voice Of The Philippines that happened Sunday night at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
Maki’s performance of Charlie Wilson’s Without You got him 36.75% of votes which secured his spot in the next level of the competition.
Coach Lea Salonga was all praises for his voice but commented that he should work on his enunciation and hand movements.
“Minsan hindi ko naiintindihan ‘yung mga salita na kinakanta mo,” the Broadway Diva said. “Musiko ka nga talaga, kasi minsan hindi mo alam kung ano gagawin mo sa kamay mo. But the good news is you know what to do with your voice.”
His coach, Sarah Geronimo, was very happy with his performance. “Vocally ang galing n’yo na,” the pop star said. “Solved naman ho ako kasi talagang umiiyak ‘yung puso ko habang pinapanood ko kayo.”
Maki beat his fellow Team Sarah members Klarisse de Guzman, who sang Madcon’s Beggin’, and Yuki Ito, who sang the Carpenters’ A Song For You.
Coach Sarah eventually chose to save her fellow Star For A Night contestant, Klarisse, over the Filipino-Japanese gay contestant, Yuki.
