The remaining Top 8 artists of The Voice Of The Philippines performed duets with their respective teammates during the live charity concert on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
Just like the previous live shows, the voting lines were opened for a team right after its performance and was closed before the next team performed. No results at the end of the show, though, because the votes garnered by the artists will be carried over to the votes that they will get Sunday night.
Team Apl’s Janice Javier and Thor Dulay sang Umagang Kay Ganda and Coach Sarah liked their fresh version, especially the soft side of Janice’s voice that she heard during the performance. The popstar also commended Thor on his ability to make anything he sings sound better. Meanwhile, Coach Apl said the two have to double their efforts during tomorrow night’s individual performance.
Team Bamboo’s Paolo Onesa and Myk Perez sang Change The World and they even went over to their coach’s chair to let him sing with them. Coach Lea noticed Paolo’s emotional connection to the song that talks about what’s happening to our world. It was especially meaningful to Paolo because he’s from Zamboanga where a fight between the government and the MNLF rebels is currently going on. Meanwhile, she said that Myk was still very at ease and comfortable on stage.
Coach Bamboo said it was a “good job” for both his artists and also mentioned that the song meant a lot more for Paolo but he didn’t want people voting for him because of what’s happening in Zamboanga. And for him: “It’s 50/50 for me tonight, baby!”
Radha Tinsay and Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea sang Against All Odds and Coach Apl noticed that the two professional singers were both fighting for “it.” Their coach, Lea, meanwhile thanked them both for doing it like they did because the night isn’t for any one of them but for the kids choir of Payatas, the beneficiary of the special charity concert.
Last to perform but definitely not the least were Klarisse De Guzman and Morrisette Amon of Team Sarah. They did The Voice Within which Coach Bamboo called the performance of the night. “Napaka-similar ‘yung genre n’yo pero napakaiba rin ng kulay,” he added.
Meanwhile, Coach Sarah agreed with Bamboo that both artists are good in different ways. So tomorrow night, she would just base her scores on their individual performances.
After the duets, the Top 8 artists sang Paraiso with the Payatas Kids Choir. It was a moving performance because the song talks about a place much like Payatas. The choir was given a cheque worth P300,000, the total amount of ticket sales for the concert.
Host Toni Gonzaga gave the viewers a peek on how the public voting went for the night. The artists were not named as the results were just partial. It will be carried over to the votes that the artists will get tomorrow night, and added to the scores given by their coaches.
The partial vote standing:
Team Apl:
Artist A - 52.64%
Artist B - 47.36%
Team Bamboo:
Artist A - 54.15%
Artist B - 45.85%
Team Lea:
Artist A - 70.59%
Artist B - 29.41%
Team Sarah:
Artist A - 54.47%
Artist B - 45.53%
While the other teams got very close percentages, Lea Salonga’s artists got a very huge gap in the vote standings. So either Radha or Mitoy got 70.59%, and either one of them got 29.41%, too!
If you think your bet in the Top 8 was the one who got the lower percentage of votes, it’s time for you to support them when the voting lines are opened tomorrow. And if you think your bets got the higher percentage… you can never be sure so you also have to vote.
To vote, send VOICE <space> <name of artist> and send to 2331 for Globe, TM and Sun Cellular subscribers and 231 for Smart and Talk N Text subscribers. For voters abroad, vote cards and epins can be used at vote.abs-cbn.com.
Don’t miss the individual performances tomorrow (Sunday), 8:15 PM, only on ABS-CBN.
